Fibrocystic breasts
What's the scoop?
Fibrocystic breasts describe lumpy breast tissue that occurs from a condition in which tissue in the breast thickens. The tissue thickening is a product of the growth of fibrous tissue & ducts and the development of cysts.
The condition is more common in young women in their 20s and 30s, and also follows a woman's hormone levels during her normal period cycle. the lumpy breast tissue can be painful, and if it doesn't lessen or go away after her period, she should have the area checked by a doctor.
